This is a short testimony on how I became a christian.
I was just like anybody else, I was indifferent to God. Whether He existed or not did not matter to me. I went about my life trying to be the best person I could be and thought that when I die I'll be OK. We are all in the same boat anyway, aren't we?
After finishing high school though, I met some christians and we studied the bible together. This started to open my mind to how God has tried to communicate to mankind through historical events and figures such as Jesus Christ.
I didn't have a true understanding of the faith until my last year of uni when I made a pact with myself that during that year I would search for God with all my heart. If I didn't find the answers I was looking for during this year then I would give up ever searching for God and live the rest of my life without Him.
During the year I attended church and started going to a home bible study group that was close to my place. This study group provided me with a safe and open environment where I could seek the answers to my questions. Nobody in this group enforced his or her ideas upon me, which was just what I needed. They gave me room to find my own answers in my own time.
Needless to say I did get the answers to my questions in that year. During the journey, my road to discovery and understanding peaked one night as I was reading Hebrew 11:6. It says "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" This verse spoke directly to me, so the next morning before it was light I went onto my balcony and commited my life to God and have never looked back since. Amen!
